WE CARRY ON BY BARBARA LEEDOM
We in our 80s, we ladies
Walk in the mall on rainy days
Frolic in bays in summertime
Prance around hidden fields at dusk
We dance alone in our rooms.
When we stop moving we
Ladies sit, but not for long, we
Rise and roam our favorite places
Soft jog on sodden trails, cranberry bogs
Sing songs even if we can’t sing.
Carry on, we’re told by our primaries
Be bold out there in the heat, winter cold
Keep moving, bend and stretch
We ladies send the world our message
In our 80s we ladies
Carry on.
